A Phone Call

A Phone Call

Yesterday I did the same thing again
I said mean words to my best friend
It upsets me when I do things like that
And afraid the hurt I caused won't mend.

My mother said sometimes our words hurt
It's best always being careful what we say
I've ignored her advice, but I won't anymore
From now on, I'll abide by them everyday.

I'm miserable sitting alone on this dock
My friend is usually sitting here with me
I'm praying she'll give me another chance
We've been friends since we were three!

Well, the sun is sinking in a western sky
It's time to go home and call my friend
I hope she feels my love and forgives me
If she does, we'll be friends until the end.
