I found a touching letter inside an old book
a letter probably written before I was born
from a soldier to his wife during a war
a letter written on paper now old and worn.
He asked her to pray the war would end soon
her love he then said inspired him day and night
to fight for our freedom until victory comes
over an evil enemy who'll fall to freedoms might.
The remaining lines of the letter have faded away
sadly who the soldier was will never be known
I can feel his undying love for his wife and family
because I know how much love I have for my own.
