The Lonely Man

The Lonely Man

His face is weathered and worn
A mouth once smiling is tightly sealed
Happy thoughts of the past are on his mind
Loneliness of today, he's trying to conceal.

His beautiful home no one is there but him
Sadly, all the ones he loved are now gone
Yet they live in his memory and always shall
It's the only way he can bear living alone.

He wonders how much longer he has left
Has no reason knowing which month or year
Because Christmas time was special to him
Giving him reason not knowing when it's near.
